ASTM A403 WP316L Stainless Steel Equal Tees are fittings used for branch pipes, used to manufacture seamless steel pipe tees. In the process of making pipe tees, the commonly used process is bulging. During this process, a dedicated hydraulic press is used to inject liquid into a pipe blank with the same diameter as the stainless steel tee.
The pipe blank is synchronously squeezed by two horizontal side cylinders of the hydraulic press. After the pipe is squeezed, the volume of the pipe blank decreases, and the pressure of the internal liquid increases. When the pressure required for the expansion of the stainless steel tee branch pipe is reached, the metal material flows along the cavity under the dual action of the hydraulic pressure in the side cylinder and pipe blank, causing the branch pipe to expand.

The production process of ASTM A403 WP316L Stainless Steel Equal Tee is as follows:

  1. Hydraulic expansion

Professional hydraulic presses are required. Firstly, add liquid to the billet and start the hydraulic press. The two horizontal side rods will push towards the middle, causing the volume of the extruded billet to decrease and the liquid inside to increase pressure. The billet that reaches a certain pressure will flow along the inside of the mold and expand out of the branch pipe, forming a stainless steel tee.

  2. Hot pressing forming

It is necessary to use a pipe blank with a diameter greater than the pipe fitting tee as raw material, compress it into the required tee diameter, drill holes on the branch pipe, heat it up, and then put it into the mold. At the same time, place the stamping mold for the stretching branch pipe into the pipe blank, and use a hydraulic press to compress the pipe blank radially. The stretching mold can form a stainless steel tee.

ASTM A403 WP316L Pipe tees can be used to change the direction of fluids, as well as for water pipelines, oil pipelines, and various liquid chemical material pipelines. They are mainly used in medicine, water conservancy (water-saving irrigation, water supply and drainage), energy (petroleum, natural gas, nuclear energy), and construction projects.
