Description
ASTM A778 TP304L Stainless Steel Welded Pipes

ASTM A778 stainless steel pipe is used in low to moderate temperature applications. The specification is for unannealed, welded stainless steel materials. There are different grades of materials used under this specification.

The ASTM A778-304l is one of the most used materials. It is a low carbon variation of the 18/8 chromium nickel stainless steel. The chromium nickel composition provides better corrosion resistance and strength while the less carbon content provides ductility and better welding properties.

ASTM A778 tp316l is a low carbon version of the 316 chromium nickel molybdenum austenitic stainless steel. This has equal strength to the 304L material but with increased corrosion resistance. The added 4% molybdenum in the composition provides corrosion resistance against chloride iron rich media. So the ASTM A778 316l is preferred for use in sea water, marine and in food grade applications. The tubes come with different pressure ratings, diameters and sizes.
